I was given a copy of "Earthbound" by the author in exchange for an honest review. I do love dystopian and westerns, so this book combines a few genres that I enjoy. It pulls it off pretty well. The story I written for teen boys and in the first person of a teen boy. Due to this fact there is quite a lot of "guy talk", some mild swearing and some "made up" swear words that are used pretty frequently. I suggest ages 17 and up, due to the frequent use of alcohol in the storyline and the sexual talk. There is one sex scene and it is implied not explicit, but it does take place between teens. I don't want to encourage teenage drinking, swearing, and sex, but as a dystopian storyline goes, it was funny, interesting and fast paced. If you can handle the teen guy swaggering conversations, you'll love it. Most of this is done in a tongue in cheek way. I give it three stars. I liked it. Pretty sure male teen sci fi or dystopian fans will love it.

What was a talented and eloquent writer trying to communicate with the facetious and redundant use of the eff bomb. I never figured it out in this "genre" and will not try to again. With a little more practice writing maybe the stories will be slightly better proofread . The idea for the story could have been entertaining.

I really don't know how I got this book; I am thinking it came as a promo. I get a number of free ebooks every day through promos. Anyway, I was kind of tired of reading the same old thing, saw this in the list, and dove into it. This is a pretty good book! Good as in, "Yea, I would like to read the next book in the series". Which unfortunately, I don't see listed as available, and the web site associated with the author is no longer available, and the Facebook page for the author and his book doesn't seem to have been visited since late 2015. Bummer. But this one is available, so I am recommending that you give it a try. It is a mix of post-apocalyptic (not a genre I generally embrace, but have read some fine ones over the years, such as Lucifer's Hammer), western, and Sci-Fi. Kind of like Firefly. I found it well written, smooth flowing, and every so often something unexpected being presented to keep up my curiosity. A shame there are not more. Perhaps some day...
