Scorching is not nearly big enough to describe the HOTNESS of this story. Set in Australia, she is the barkeep and owner of the local pub. He is the sheriff. They have known each other all their lives and she has been in love with him for that long. He thinks of her as his best friend. In high school he went for the big bobbed witch, she did everything possible to screw up his life and his mind. He is the single father of a 14 year old girl. The mother didn't want anything to do with her and left her with her father. She still manages to mess with his head.

One night while he is just coming off of a drunken stupor, they have sex in her apartment above the bar. For her it was a lot more than that but to him it was just sex and "oh no" with his best friend. He apologizes and says it will never happen again. She is sorry to hear it but never lets on how she feels. Her crazy ex creates problems for her and the sheriff steps in to help. Then the crazy ex-wife creates more problems as she plans to take the 14 year old away from him.

The only solace they have is in bed at his place. She has decided to take what she can and enjoy it while it lasts. But, in the heat of the moment she tells him something that has him scared out of his wits. This is a great story. HOT as heck, he is one sexy hero, yummy as all get out. He even has some very funny lines. Laugh out loud funny. Poor guy tho, he doesn't have a clue!!! They get their HEA and it was well deserved. Very entertaining read, great story, and I definitely recommend it.

An enjoyable if somewhat predictable at times book. It's the classic friends to lovers story line. JJ has been in love with her best friend for years but has resolved to only ever be seen as a friend and never as anything more. Ethan gets drunk one night over his newly remarried ex wife and JJ is once again left to pick up the pieces.

I probably would have enjoyed this story a lot more if Ethan wasn't such a jerk. First he only sees JJ as his asexual best friend. Mind you, she's been married and divorced but somehow it's escaped him that she's a woman in all this time. Then he notices that she is very much a woman and has needs and he's surprised at the fact. Seriously? I mean what did he think happened while she was married? Did he imagine she and her husband had Lucy and Ricky twin size beds? Ok, fine, she's a woman, but she's his friend and he refuses to see her as anything other than his best friend. Understandable, but there are some lines that can not be uncrossed once they've been crossed. Acting like an ass after the fact isn't going to ensure she remains his best friend once it's all over.

All in all, I did enjoy the story. Even the predictability of it was enjoyable and uncomplicated. I only wish Ethan's character didn't detract from the story. I felt bad for him until he acted like a jerk Then I started feeling maybe he was getting what he deserved. I'm guessing this is not a good emotion to inspire about your leading man. lol

Packed full of lots of excitement, a bit of violence, a few sexy and steamy sex scenes, and a whole lot of love, this book will have you on edge, not wanting to put it down. Even though this is part of a series, it is a standalone and doesn't have to be read in sequence, although it might help with some of the other characters, but I don't believe you loose anything from this particular story. Well done!

I quit reading YA stories long ago, and now I remember why. The characters are usually way too immature for my tastes. Example: JJ knew that he didn't see her as anything more than physically, satisfying plaything....and yet, she continually allowed herself to get sucked in by him everytime. IMO- The girl needs to learn a little about self-respect, and fast.

Another thing that turns me off, is that there is just way too much sex in these stories, and not enough real depth to the storylines themselves.. Don't get me wrong; I love a good sex scene just as much as anyone else, but it has to have some meaning and feelings behind it. And honestly, I think having too many sex scenes is overkill. But then again, that's JMO.

I Ioved this book...friends to lovers back to friends and back to lovers...it was amazing. Jj has been in love with Ethan ever since they were kids. He never saw her in that way until one drunken night that takes them across the friend barrier. Then the chemistry is off the charts. I would definitely recommend this book. It has exs that get in the way, and a man (Ethan) that needs to come to realize that he's might be in love. I don't want to give too much away, so read it for yourself...you won't be disappointed.

I loved this book! JJ is a great character; feisty and independent. Ethan was all about Ethen but it fitted into the story well. There were some parts of the book that were laugh out loud parts,(for me anyway) and others just a broad smile. I love that the author has used some Australian sayings in the book.
