Becks' own silent life of secrets and abuse, make it difficult for Kayleigh to piece together the jigsaw of events. Her mind is tormented by the memories and scenarios that she contrives to make sense of their last phone call.

Author’s note:
At the age of twenty-six, Kayleigh contacted me and asked if I’d listen to her and hopefully write her story. I’ve seen documentation and newspaper reports confirming certain incidences of what she has told me and I have no reason not to believe what she has recounted to me. Here is her story.

Where is Becks!!

This was a great true mystery book... I think that her friend had her best interest in mind. But, was afraid of what she did not know. I think that there was much Becks did not divulge. There are 3 different conclusions to draw from this account... I hope she is alive and well. But I feel as though Becks is no longer with us. I think both Paul and Craig should be interviewed. Either she was killed by Paul, or she left that night and did the snuff film with Craig and from all accounts he was suffering from some mental illness and from the way he changed during the filming of the "horror movie" I believe that his intentions were dark and sinister. One of them killed her or she escaped into another identity. But I think the last conclusion is unlikely because at some point her mother would have been contacted. I don't think Kayleigh should stop trying to find the truth and closure for her friend.

Non-fiction, for me, always walks a fine line. Since it's not something authors make up in their heads, but someone's tale, it must be hard to write it down in such a way, it doesn't sound like a report. This book doesn't always manage to walk that fine line between story and report. But that's the only negative thing I can say about it.
It's a desturbing read, and one I'd definitely recommend to anyone who has anything to do with teenagers - teachers, parents, everybody. This books shows the many subtle signs of abuse, the many inaudible cries for help, which makes it a hugely important read.

Not my usual genre, but after seeing this on the web I was curious and read the "look inside"and got hooked by the simplicity of the author's style. If I comment on a story it is because I am only too pleased to do so when the story is without fault. The pace is quick and clean. The dialogue and first person narration are precise and to the point.
There are many badly-written books on amazon from people who dream of riches and fame.
This book is not one of them.

Reeling from one abusive relationship to another, Becks tries to mask the hurt by smoking 'spliffs' (weed). Although, Becks hasn't confided one hundred percent in her friend, Kayleigh tries to support her to the best of her ability and by doing so even puts her own life in danger at one point - and yet this does not stop Kayleigh feeling guilt ridden when Becks disappears.

Several years later, Kayleigh still hasn't come to terms with not knowing what has happened to her friend and deeply regrets that she couldn't have done more.
