When baking, children have many learning experiences and parents many teaching opportunities which remain forever embedded in their minds.
A baking experience starts with a discussion. It is followed by commitment to what, where and when it will be baked. The ingredients need to be bought, so a shopping expedition is planned.
Security and how to prevent any danger in the kitchen are part of this learning experience. Awareness of the possibilities is the main objective.
Teamwork is very important, which smaller children find difficult but gets better as they grow older. This bonding process allows children an opportunity to relax and discuss things which would not freely have been revealed.
Reading and understanding the recipe improves comprehension. An understanding of various foods and where they come from can also be addressed.
Sorting and measuring quantities before baking as well as learning to count, add, subtract and divide are all parts of the process.
