D.G. Torrens, a celebrated UK & USA international bestselling Author/Poet,

has an impressive literary portfolio. With 24 published books to date, she

continues to captivate readers across genres. Currently, she is crafting

her 24th book, titled, *“TWO FOR JOY” *a gripping survivor series novel set

for release in May 2025.

Beyond her novels, D.G Torrens has contributed four short stories to

multi-author anthologies, including *“Love Letters to Water,”* with all

proceeds benefiting charity. Her literary journey began with the unexpected

success of her first book, “Amelia’s Story”, which has been downloaded over

500k times worldwide. Originally penned for her daughter, this true-life

story resonated with readers, propelling her into the spotlight. Securing a

literary agent, who landed the author a three-book deal with Audible for

the entire Amelia Series.

D.G. Torrens subsequent works span diverse genres, from military romance to

romantic suspense, domestic thrillers, contemporary romance novels, and

poetry collections. Her impact extended to the airwaves, where she served

as a weekly Headline Reviewer on BBC Radio WM 95.6 FM during 2014/15.

Discussing daily headlines with thousands of listeners, she navigated the

challenge with grace and wit.

A quote from the author:

*“It can be quite daunting discussing the day’s headlines knowing thousands

of people are tuning in... You never know when you are going to mess up!

Thankfully, with lady luck on my side, I managed to wing it! “*

Recently, D.G. Torrens embarked on a new venture: Co-directing and

co-producing her first documentary film, titled “Birmingham A City Rooted

in Talent. In the spring of 2023, D.G Torrens conceived an inspiring idea

for a film. Driven by her love for Birmingham UK, she envisioned creating a

positive documentary that would celebrate the vibrant city and the

remarkable talent that has emerged there over the decades. This concept was

groundbreaking–a fresh perspective that had never been done before. After

extensive discussions with her family and receiving enthusiastic feedback

from them, D.G Torrens was resolute in her vision. She sought a co-director

and co-producer and reached out to fellow author, Martin Tracey who loved

the idea. Together, they formed the film production company Contrary Trees

Productions.

A quote by D.G. Torrens: *"Not everyone will understand your journey what

matters is that you do." *

“Forbidden” begins with Jessica Hamilton hanging for life onto the side of a cliff. Earlier, she had called her boyfriend, Ajay Sharma, to come to the clifftop. When Ajay arrives, he hears her call for help and reaches for her hand to rescue her, but Jessica slips from his grip and falls down the cliff. Ajay’s mind races. The woman he desperately loves lies motionless in the canyon below. Who would lure Jessica to the cliff?

To find the answer, the story moves back to the time before Jessica and Ajay became a couple. Jessica gets a new job at Lansdale and Down Communications and meets Ajay, an associate director. They feel an immediate attraction to each other, but neither one makes a move until they attend a party birthday. Due to their cultural differences and the colors of their skin, they conceal their relationship from their families. Jessica is white and comes from a strict Christian family. Ajay is black and a Hindu. The story has a Romeo and Juliet feel to it. Both families are against interracial relationships.

From snooping in Jessica’s bedroom, her mother, a powerful business woman, discovers her daughter’s involvement with Ajay and sets out to destroy him.

Ajay and Jessica travel on business to India. Away from their families, their love grows and blossoms, but what they had feared could tear them apart surfaces. Unbeknownst to them, a spy lurks in the shadows. Is their love headed for a tragic ending?

This is a well-executed heart-wrenching love story. The author skillfully brought the characters to life. I felt for the anguish that both Jessica and Ajay faced when they were forced to make hard lifetime decisions. This well-plotted, captivating read is an engaging first book in the Hamilton/Sharma Novel. Highly recommended!

D.G. Torrens has crafted a happy, sad, and realistic story of Forbidden love between two young people from very different cultures. Jessica and Ajay fall in love but their families, hers Christian and his Hindu, are unable to accept it causing horrible friction among them all. Jessica and Ajay hold hope their families will see past their cultural differences and accept their relationship.

Jessica’s mom goes out of her way to make Ajay’s work life hell. Ajay’s brother sets out to divide Ajay and Jessica.

Jessica suffers a horrible accident of which she has no recollection. Realizing they’ve almost lost their only child, will her parents get past the cultural differences and accept Ajay; thereby, letting Jessica back into their lives? Can they?

In Ajay’s case, what will it take to get his family to come around? Perhaps an old family secret will reveal itself lending to awareness of why some of his family members have made the decisions they have.
This book contains a bit of an emotional rollercoaster ride: love, happiness, disappointment, sadness, hope, healing…

Some fiction has a way of not just entertaining you but making you think as well.

In FORBIDDEN we are introduced to Jessica Hamilton and Ajay Sharma, two people who fall victim to a natural attraction that is complicated for some by the color of their skin and their faith. Author D.G. Torrens allows their story together to unfold showing that for some regardless of what an individual might achieve they can be discriminated against due to a bias. Will Jessica and Ajay risk it all to be together, and at what cost?

That is just part of the story that has it all: love, family conflict and the challenges that come with life in a judgmental world. Definitely worth the read.

This is a realistic tale of two cultures clashing over love. My own white American son married an Indian girl in 2016. Happily, we did not face these problems, though she fully expected to from her family. Even with our full acceptance of their relationship, the culture clash is still challenging. Never think the events in this book are exaggerated or unreal. They are the experience of many.

What a great book. Love a good book from Dg Torrens, this latest does not disappoint. You will be hooked from the first chapter. I couldn't put it down. The twists and turns were far from predictable. A must read if you love those that draw you in and you hate to put it down. Anxiously awaiting to read her Book 2 (Dissolution) that I just bought. Thank you Ms. Torrens.

Forbidden. Book 1 in a new series.
This book grabbed me from page one and kept my emotions running to the very last page.
I had forgotten how crazy it is to be in an mixed race relationship, it must be so difficult to try and keep everybody happy. Ajay and Jessie being in a relationship face all sorts of problems. Follow their journey against all the bigotry in the UK and India. This book will tug at your emotions all the way to the end, God only knows how Dawn managed to write this book. I have read all this authors books and without doubt this book is one of the best. This book is an easy 5 star rating.i can't wait for book 2 in this series. What a fantastic read. Gripping and at times totally jaw dropping suspense. This book will have you completely hanging on to the authors every word. This book is about a romantic story of a couple who have had their journey of love disrupted by those that they love. They are made to feel like they have fallen in love with the wrong person but as the book goes on the readers are reminded that we don't choose who we fall in love with, in fact it chooses us. The writer does a stunning job in showing how heart breaking their lives are and leaves you wondering where the already upended lives will take them.
