I received this book for free, but my opinion is my own. This gave a good, step by step instruction for a good number of 3-d shapes to learn some shading techniques to add depth on

I was in a rut as far as drawing was concerned. You know the state between very beginners and almost not beginners? That’s where I was (kind of getting bored) happen to see this book and it sparked something.

I like the step by step approach. There could have been more ideas to practice in the book. I would recommend this to a teenage child who is learning 3d drawing.

I was so looking forward to this book , unfortunately it was kinda a let down. It has a few basics that are nice. The first few pages I liked but when it got to Teaching you how to actually draw a 3D picture the directions were terrible and some were even incorrect. Example draw an L you see above.... (it was below ) and really didn’t look like an L . But I still did learn a few new things. I really appreciated the pencil chart showing shading because I’m new to pencil drawing it helped. Wouldn’t recommend if you want it for first 3D book .

If you have about 5 minutes, and want to mostly waste the time and money, buy this book. Seriously, I don't believe the author really needed to add more than maybe these few words for the entire thing..."copy me, step by step, now it is done." Cough! Honestly the Sunday comics from the paper takes longer to get through than this book. My last fortune cookie had more depth and insight than this book. Sure the artist can draw, but you will very probably need another "real" book to go much beyond the monkey see monkey do, aspect of this book. You will find more personally useful information on a box of preparation H , sure it won't teach you much about drawing, unless you are trying to copy the box, but neither will this book! Save your money, buy a lollipop and try and copy it onto a scratch pad. After you can do that, try it in color. Wow, am I good or what?!? Maybe I should write a book like this? Naaa, I have a conscious and would feel bad for taking advantage of people. By the way, I'm sure some people will give this book a good review, I'm obviously not one of those people because I believe in providing decent content. I'm really starting to appreciate the role that editors, spell checkers, and publishers have in producing readable if not useful content.

Warning: This book covers no theory. It provides some hands-on 3D projects you can do. It only covers one aspect of perspective using shading.

I have always been really ‘challenged with drawing simple drawings. My spatial orientation is way off. Seeing firstly why there are so many ‘shades of grey’ pencils and then being able to use them for shading, turns my simple drawings into 3D objects.
Where was I when this was explained in art lessons back in the day?!
