Dawn of Genesis (Titan Code Book 1) Kindle Edition
Earth is dying and mutants which no longer wishes to follow orders of the tyrannical government. Rebel Evos and government factions clash in a fight for survival and control. Tessa must choose a side, but both sides seem corrupted by power. What happens when the world goes sideways on humanity? Humans have pushed Mother Earth to her breaking point and our worst fears are realized. To survive, scientists turn to genetically enhanced super-humans as our saviors. What happens when our saviors realize they are the superior species and they no longer wish to take orders?
Tessa struggles to survive the harsh new environment of earth in addition to hostile super-humans called Evos. Common people are stuck between the fight for power between what remains of human government factions and new Evo leaders. Tessa is forced to make a choice on which side has humanity's best interests in mind. She begins to realize the greedy and destructive nature of humanity and the possibility that neither side is righteous, and both are corrupted by power.

Review
The desperate circumstances of most of humanity is exacerbated by the rise of mutated superhumans with powers to rival those of the kinds of superheroes normally seen only in the movies. But the "Evos", evolved humans, are missing the moral compass that directs those comic book superheroes, and the government that has arisen to "protect" the remaining non-Evos population isn't much better - merely less individually powerful.
The reader's perspective on that boiling stew is teen Tessa Jones, still in school and trying to pretend that her excellent combat and engineering skills aren't nearly as strong as she knows they are. If she shows what she's really capable of she'll be whisked away from her family's farm by a government that uses - and uses up - every available person in order to defeat the Evos.
But Tessa's dreams of remaining with her family explode when she manifests her own Evos powers to save her little sister's life. Unable to hide what she really is, Tessa becomes a pawn caught between forces that plan to use her for their own ends, either as a warrior for the Evos or a lab rat for a government planning to make more supersoldiers just like Tessa.
Because Tessa is still learning about the world and her place in it, she provides an eye-opening perspective on this post-apocalyptic world, as well as giving the story crossover appeal to readers of young adult and new adult fiction.
That Tessa is still figuring things out means that the reader gets to figure those things out with her. Tessa is on the cusp of adulthood, facing decisions that will set the course of her life. She is still facing all the issues of being in school, boredom, bullying, trying to fit in enough and desperate not to stand out too much. Issues that are easy for the reader to identify with.
She is also trying to find her truth, to find a way of coping with the dying world she has been born into. She's aware that what she's hearing about the larger world is all propaganda, and she doesn't know which way to turn or what to believe because the truth is not out there and she doesn't know where to find it.
She's naive, she's uncertain, and she's desperate because she's trapped in terrible circumstances facing equally terrible choices and none of it is of her making. But she is the one person who might be able to fix at least some of it if she is willing to take the reins of her future into her own hands.
Dawn of Genesis is a post-apocalyptic survival story. And it's a story about one young woman making a place for herself on a dying Earth. But it's also a story about training and learning to be the most that one can be, and it's a kickass adventure story about grabbing a better future.

The story was written well with good world building and a great story line. There is also the political component that lurks in the midst of the story. Each side thinks they are right and Tessa has to figure out where she belongs or if she tries to run from them both. There were quite a few typos in the book and some areas were a little difficult to read because of this. Overall the story was great and definitely has me intrigued. A solid 4 stars.
