Raz Frewer has three days to save the love of his life.

His wife's doctors can't cure her. They say they've thought of everything, so Raz does the unthinkable.

He goes to the Crossroads and makes a deal with the Devil.

The clock is ticking as he scours the planet to find four pieces of an ancient lamp that, once assembled, can save her.

The rules state he can have three people help him. However, the people he enlists... are a very liberal interpretation of "help."

An unemployed actor, an illegal immigrant, and a pilot who smells like he bathes in bong water.

Raz knows the all-powerful lamp can cure the woman he loves.

What he doesn't know?

The Devil has plans for it.

Dick Wybrow is a thriller and humor author. Or, depending on how many cups of coffee he's had, a humor and thriller author.

At the age of six, Dick was given his first book by his father. It was Wind in the Willows. Naturally, that put Dick off reading for several years.

He credits dozens of talented authors for reawakening the love of getting lost in a great story. Writers like Janet Evanovich, Stephen King, Margaret Atwood, Harlan Coben, Douglas Adams and many others.

Dick lives in Auckland, New Zealand with one wife, three cats and a very tiny dog.

Actual laugh out loud moments, a crew of unlikely heroes, and the Good against Evil plot made this a great read. I enjoyed it immensely. Well worth the time.

I don’t know how many times I’ve come across a book that I expected to be horror and it turned out to be something else. Hell inc. is one of those books. Based on the cover, the title, and even the blurb I was led to believe this is horror. This is a comedy with a dab of horror thrown in; like those salad sprays that give the essence of a flavor.

Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed Hell inc. It’s quite clever and fun, though there are some spots that I wanted to punch myself in the throat because it wasn’t moving fast enough. The story is solid with Raz jumping from one continent to another in search of the pieces to a special lamp that can heal his dying wife.

Throughout, there is one obstacle after another thrown in his and his merry band of helpers’ way, keeping my attention. The subplot is interesting with a faction forming to take over Hell from Satan; I’m assuming the following books in the series touch more of this.

If you’re looking for something fun and exciting to read (even if it isn’t 100% horror), then I recommend this one.

Every once in awhile a book comes along that reminds me why I love to read. This is one of those books. It's a story of love, adventure and friendship rolled around a valiant quest, and infused with laugh-out-loud moments.

Making a deal with the devil at the Crossroads may not be the dumbest thing Raz Frewer has ever done, but it probably is. In an effort to save his dying wife, he agrees to find and assemble the four pieces of a special lamp that Satan wants for his own. Aided by two friends and a stranger, he has mere hours to retrieve the parts from around the globe. Will he risk all of humanity to buy time for the love of his life? Will he make it in time? Will Satan honor the bargain if he does? Read the book and find out! Absolutely recommended.

I don't mind a bit of Christopher Moore-style absurdity, but there still needs to be a little bit of consistency within the world framework the author creates. Unfortunately in Hell Inc, there's too much reliance on weird stuff happening spontaneously to save the main characters, and too much reliance on repeated jokes (for example, the Actor being a short person, Anza carping on about people using religious words to swear) to be fully entertaining. I think I'll call it a day with the series here.

I would have given five stars but for the expletives ( yeah..I know, but I'm older than you so shove a sock in it). As I was saying this is a humorous look at an age old tale. In order to save the love of his life, a man makes a deal with the devil... at the cross roads! ( which was a decent movie with a great blues soundtrack). The deal is... get a lantern ( like an old hurricane lamp) which has been missing for centuries and the parts have been scattered around the world. Oh yeah...he's got four days to comply. That's the basic ingredient that gets this wild ride off and running. There are places to find, transportation to these places, some extra help to acquire ( he can't do this alone) and roadblocks everywhere. If "getting there" is half the fun then this tale gets you there and back with smiles and out loud laughs. However, before reading, please suspend rational thoughts and physical dysfunctions...they just get in the way of a good time. What the heck...give it a read already!

The plot is engrossing and allows the settings to be in several countries. Short historical explanations are expertly included into the storyline, along with descriptions and geographical information necessary to the plot, which makes learning fun. His characters are well fleshed out, and they “grow” emotionally during the book. However, the best part of Mr. Wybrow’s writing is his humor. I laughed out loud, snickered and grinned. He can build a humorous anecdote as skillfully as any comedian. I will reread this book soon, and am so glad I bought it.

Mr. Wybrow's sense of humor and writing style are (pleasingly) reminiscent of Mr. Prachett.
No spoilers, but the ending is a happy mix of good and sad.
Will be obtaining the next book in the series very soon.

There are some typos, some misspellings, but all in all it's a fun story with a relatably pathetic protagonist. I enjoyed the snarky turns of phrase and the tongue in cheek self-awareness of the first person narration. The ending was a bit too dramatic (and a trifle too Christian) for my tastes, but the ride was a fun one and I may take it again.

If I ever publish a book, I hope my first one is at least this good.

I know it’s just my opinion, but these books are amazing! Brilliantly inventive with a fantastic streak of dark humour, tempered with genuine warmth running right through them. Get the set and settle in for a fantastic adventure with some of the very best characters to have come to life in a very long time.
Please Amazon, pick this series up and run with it! Would make a fantastic T.V show.

Arrived with a split in the wood, but I can live with it. I like the design, it has space for all my knives. My only complaint with the design is that there's no space for shears, as I like to keep these in the same place as my knives. I recommend it though.
