The immortal vengeance of the Fire Cat, an evil flamed orange cat with fierce plotting powers causes chaos, destruction and unspeakable terror unbalancing the natural order of the feline world.

The Fire Cats gruesome powers force the lives of two unwitting and unsuspecting pampered housecats, Angela and Maxcy, to transform their simple carefree lives to hungry desperate wild cats.

Together, Angela and Maxcy must restore order not only for themselves but for the entire feline world. The story is filled with adventurous places they never imagined existed. Through a time of great turmoil, they must figure out the past, decode prophetic visions of a sprit realm of mystic power, and survive, even if it's just barely. Their survival training forces them into confusing death defying feline territorial combat in camps of their clan enemies and transports them to a deadly gaming simulation of unspeakable terror. They face the horror of a gaming simulation unlike any situation they have ever experienced.

Confused and uncertain of their future, Angela and Maxcy are quite sure of one truism...

If they survive, their lives are changed forever.

Amazingly, the inception of this book began with an idea Cyan Li had when she was only 8 years old. She finished it for you at age 11. And, now just turning 12 years old, it is published for you to read. Make no mistake, this captivating and deep plotted work of art is not just for children. It’s also perfect for the young teen and adult lover of action and adventure fantasy filled with cats.

Parent View: Cyan Li and Flashing Visions Characters Grow up Together!

Just as the characters grow as the story progresses, so does Cyan as a person.

Flashing Visions, a science fiction & fantasy epic novel, broad in scope, is a book about friendship, appreciation, responsibility, and completing goals and missions in a multitude of settings. The form of the novel is so mature that it brings constant surprises and fascination to the reader.

As parents, witnessing the entire creative process of the book and front cover, we were touched by Cyan's enthusiasm, focus, and persistence from the time she began at only the age of 8 until she finished it at the age of 11. We were in awe of her creativity in handling the
problem-solving struggles both in the book and real life. We enjoyed the deep pleasure brought by reading her work and are proud that she thanks each of her friends and teachers who encouraged her at the forefront of the book. Thanks, Cyan! We are proud of you!

About the Author

Flashing Visions was written by Cyan between the ages of 8 and 11 and finally published just after her 12th birthday.

Starting from 2012, age 5, Cyan was already creative. She wrote poems, songs (lyrics and music), short stories, cartoons, flying cat series stories, recipes and even machine operation manuals. Why did she like manuals? Who knows, but she did! She asked to take ballet, flute, and animal drawing instruction classes.

From 2015 to 2016, when Cyan was in the 3rd grade, she decided to write a book and began to use her time after dinner every day. Being an only child, this was 100% self-entertainment for her.

In the summer of 2017, one of her teachers accidentally saw what she wrote and said, "Fantastic! You should consider writing to a complete book." Cyan was intrigued and began to develop the story.

In the summer of 2018, her art tutor, a former Literature Instructor, read her writing and was excited to say, "This is a phenomenal book! I have never seen writing like this from someone so young. You should publish this." So, Cyan decided this was a great idea and asked her parents to help her publish it. At the same time, she started to draw the cover. She spent almost a full summer and fall creating and perfecting the cover, especially the cat eyes.

In September of 2018, the book was finally finished, and at the end of 2018, the cover was completed. During the 2019 New Year's holiday, the book's "Dedication" and "Bonus" pages were added. In January 2019, the digital version was published on Amazon.

Out of the wild imagination and visionary capability of an 8-year-old cat lover emerges the author, Cyan Li. Cyan creates an exciting and riveting plotline of science fiction fantasy about the coming of age of two simple housecats. Taking 4 years to complete her first epic novel, Flashing Visions, became an eBook reality just days after she turned only 12-years-old.

Her idea began one morning before going to school, when Cyan was watching Angela, her own housecat, eat breakfast. Oh yes! Angela loves to eat! Thinking about how the food would be gone soon, Cyan thought “she would probably still be very hungry even after the food was gone.” It was at this point Cyan’s mind began to spiral into the wonderful tale of Flashing Visions. All day, she thought and thought, imagining all the adventures Angela might experience in her very own cat universe.

The next day in the cafeteria at school, she decided to tell one of her friends, Olivia, about her cat universe and some of the fantastical experiences Angela might encounter. As you might imagine, being 8 years old and a cat lover herself, Olivia became enthralled with the idea and excitedly encouraged Cyan to write it all down. Together they dreamt and talked about how great it would be to have a book with these adventures.

Well, Cyan was so intrigued, after finishing with her obligations of the day, she spent many hours over the next number of months immersed in her imagination writing her story on her iPad as she created a whole cat universe. But, this was HER cat universe, her own private thoughts. So, she decided to tell virtually nobody about her writing.

Although most of the characters were contrived from her imagination, the first Character, Angela, was based on her own cat. Then, two more cats, Frost and Shadow, on her friend Maxcy’s two cats creating more depth to her story. But, Angela had to have a best friend to grow up with, so she decided to use her own friend Maxcy, who she may not always be so close too in real life, remain lifelong friends with Angela in her book. So, Angela and Maxcy would experience a coming of age together for better or for worse!

Well, you can just imagine the life of an 8-year-old little girl! Cyan would then take the next 4 years to finish her book, stopping periodically, sometimes for extended periods of time from writing, to explore many new avenues. And, as you can imagine, many times school would take president. But, as Cyan got older, she decided she wanted to finish this book. It became a very important quest for her.

To gain the time for her to finish it, she eventually had to tell other people. She had to, at the very least, tell her mother. Well, you can imagine her mom’s excitement! Teaching her a very important life lesson, she kept her on track, reminding her and pushing her to continue and finish what she had set forth as a goal for herself.

However, Cyan’s talents don’t end with writing. Of her many talents, include her yearning desires for music, instruments, dancing, drama and drawing. Although her obsession with reading has taken her into a world of cat facts and fiction, her desires have given her the innate ability to create a world of movement, imagination and expression through written, audio and visual forms.

So, typical of Cyan’s perfectionist personality, she decided to take her book to another level and create all the artwork for the book, beginning with the front cover. The book is a combined expression of what she has learned in school and in her extracurricular such as private classical piano and flute, private drawing, dance and drama and even Russian Math lessons. Oh, I doubt that at such a young age, she understands how the successful study and accomplishments work together to give her the ability to write such an advanced piece of art. For her, they are ways she can express and enjoy herself, catalogue her private imaginative thoughts into her own written reality. Cyan is wild eyed inquisitively innocent perfectionist who wants to know and experience all she can find and imagine. I remember, a couple of years ago, when she won a competition in classical piano and was invited to play at Carnegie Hall. She came to me and asked “Why is everyone so exited for me? What’s Carnegie Hall?” I believe she was only 10 at the time.

By December of 2018, at age 11, Cyan completed her first novel, Flashing Visions with its captivating cover; an exciting coming of age science fiction magical fantasy epic of two-house cats learning to live in the wild out of necessity, a story of strong bonding friendship overcoming tremendous obstacles within a cat universe consisting of 3 realms: a real cat world, a devastatingly dangerous game simulation and a magical cat realm of extraordinary talents.

Lucky for us, the readers, she decided to share this spectacular imaginary world of cats!

I bought this book for my kids because it's an animal fantasy book. My kids just read a couple of chapters and was hooked and asked me to read with them too. What an amazing story written by a grade kid. Each chapter has a different mystery and has conclusions in forward chapters. I was always surprised by the young author’s imagination. Some chapters are written so beautifully that it was as if I were watching a movie in my mind. I really likes the character Angela, who understands what friends are for and helps them when they need it. Having read this book, I still can’t believe the author is an 11-year old kid! I hope one day my kids can write a book like this.

"Flashing Visions" by Cyan Li really surprised me with its quality and depth. The characters are likable, unique, and memorable, and I quickly became invested in each character's story. From beginning to end, I was constantly wondering what would happen next. The story line is well crafted, and the twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. Although the author was only eight years old when she started writing it, this book deals with some pretty mature themes, such as the effect killing has on one's mental health. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading fantasy novels.

This is a well written novel full of creative and wild imagination. It is hard to believe that such an advanced piece of work is created by a 11-year-old girl. Cyan uses concise, precise, and graceful words with her innocent view on the world to depict a cat universe. After reading a few pages of this book, I was deeply attracted by the plot and was eager to know what is happening next. If you want to learn the perilous adventure of two lovely housecats, grab this one and settle down in your favorite place. You won’t want to move your butt anymore!

I first have the doubt about the book when a friend recommended this book, but I caught my full attention once I started reading. I am quite impressed by the author's capability to create a "cat-universe", which remind me Harry Potter and Shrek.

I strongly recommend this book as a bed time story for the kid.

Author Cyan Li was eight when she started writing and 12 when she published this coming-of-age action adventure that children and adults alike will enjoy. She weaves a complex world of ordinary reality and mystical realms that involve spirit cats as well as the main villain, a terrifying fire cat. Maxcy and Angela are thrust into worlds beyond their imagination as they are forced to fight for their survival in a brutal feline war. For sensitive cat-lovers, a warning that this book includes graphic violence and death.
Fasten your seat belt and hang on tight; this epic adventure from a young author to watch will take you on a ride!
The author’s youth shows in the meandering plot and character development, but her love of mysticism, adventure, and cat-fights is clear.
