This was a very touching novel and played up the class differences and double standards in Regency England very well. Our heroine had been thrown out of her home and had to make it on her own in a society that offered women very little chance of surviving unless they worked selling their bodies.
She meets a true gentleman, the hero, who gives her a chance to make a different choice and free herself.
He was a bit irritating in that it took him too long to see the great treasure that she was and take action. But in the end, his actions were splendid, changing not only her life for the better, but someone else from her family as well as a most beloved person from his own family. Overall, very good read. Recommend it highly

When Violet finds herself thrown out of the house, she eventually seeks shelter in a famous, London brothel. She's kept herself from dwelling on her circumstances, having survived a year at Madame Chambon's, when a beautiful young lord comes to her to escape the most embarrassing day of his life. Little does she know he was left at the alter only hours before! The connection they feel is one neither of them has experienced with any other.
Wonderfully written with a fascinating plot, this novel lets you glimpse the hearts and lives of it's love starved characters. I particularly found the ending delightful. Immerse yourself in another totally enjoyable book by Ms. Oakley!

I was so happy when Emily and Aunt Euthen came into the picture at the end making a complete family. And their African adventure was one they were all enjoying. So sweet.

Wedding Violet is the delightful story of Max and Violet. They meet by chance when Max darkens the door of Madame Chambon’s establishment after he is left at the altar. Although Max’s inner and outer dialogue spout of his virtue and strong morals, he never-the-less can’t leave Violet alone after their first encounter.

Violet fits perfectly in a plan Max devises to satisfy his ailing Aunt Euphemia. Her last wish is to see her favorite nephew happily in love and wed. There are some twists and turns to this deception and although the scam wedding does happen – it feels like a sad occasion.

The ending of this story took me completely by surprise! A wonderful surprise with a happy ending for Max, Violet, and Aunt Euphemia. I liked this story, even with Max’s continued diatribe of all the reasons why he shouldn’t want Violet for keeps. I did like the way that Violet stood up for herself (for the most part) and was honest and emotional.

This romance is very different

Violet was a Cyprian, or in other words a prostitute. Max had just be left at the altar and decided to celebrate at a Madame's house and was fortunate to have it be Violet that he tupped, saying it was the best he had ever had. Violet too, was emotionally touched. Not a book I might read because of the characters and theme as well as there was lots of sex however, I was so glad I did read. It has a NEW ending.

Some reviewers made reference to the frequent sex episodes. In light of the entire premise of the book, there was really very little sex and not graphically portrayed. The least palatable feature of the story occurred off-stage--Violet seemed to continue to ply her trade during the time she was not engaged in helping Max convince Aunt Euphemia that she was Max's fiancée. This was a quick, light read--not particularly believable but enjoyable.

Max, Lord Belvedere wanted freedom to do with his life what he wanted and when he saw a chance, he sized it. But destiny and a meddling aunt had others plans for him. Violet thought the life she led had hardened her enough but, Lord Belvedere had stirred in her feelings she thought out of her reach. But, in her line of work, which were her odds? An interesting heroine decided to make the best of her fate even if she was left heartbroken. Liked her inner struggling to protect her heart. Strong emotions, deceive, some suspense, romance, passion and entertaining secondary characters that I liked. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I received from CandidReviews.
