My name is Kritika (kri-tee-kaa) Singh and I live in Sydney, Australia, with my husband, two children and fur-baby Fonzie. Early in 2024, my goal of publishing a children's book was finally realised, and I am thrilled to have done so.

I was born in a small town called Tailevu, in the beautiful Fiji Islands, where the rich tapestry of my family's roots has profoundly shaped my worldview. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture and strong sense of community in Fiji, I learned from an early age to cherish the simple things in life as the truest treasures. My family instilled in me values of humility, gratitude, and the importance of staying connected to our heritage.

My writing reflects the fusion of these two worlds – the timeless wisdom of Fijian tradition intertwined with the dynamic energy of multicultural Australia. I aim to weave narratives that resonate with readers, celebrating the beauty of life's simple joys while exploring the transformative power of embracing change and embracing new opportunities.

Undoubtedly, the driving force and source of inspiration came from my children, who are already teenagers in 2024. In my book, I wanted to express their childhood memories, innocence, humour, and silliness, all mixed.

The central themes in my book - Billabong Bus, are:

Kindness: Kindness is portrayed as a strong force that unites people and promotes a sense of community, whether by lending a supportive word or a hand to a friend in need.

Unity: As the diverse group of passengers journeys together on the Billabong Bus, they learn the value of unity in overcoming challenges and achieving common goals.

Looking out and observing: The act of looking out and observing serves as a metaphor for mindfulness and awareness in the story. As the bus travels through parks and lakes, the characters are encouraged to pay attention to their surroundings and reflect on the beauty of Australian flora and fauna.

This is a beautiful book that introduces kids to various Australian flora and fauna as well as the importance of mate-ship that is celebrated so much in the Australian culture. Loved the simple language and the colourful illustration.
